WAIMAK WHISPER
2ND EDITION
Proudly brought to you by

Welcome to the 2nd Edition of the Waimak Whisper

Entertainment Books
Our first fundraiser for the year is nearing completion.  This never really seems like a fundraiser to me, because of the fantastic value of these books.  For $65 you get plenty of vouchers to so many businesses that most families would use.  And the bonus is the club raises $13 per book.  Thanks so much to Leigh Bolton for organising this.  It's not too late to order a book - they are available up to the 13th of May - but get in quick by contacting Leigh 313 7533.
Club Photos
These are coming soon.  Keep an eye out for the timetable on the website soon.  As a combined club this will take quite some organising so if you can help out  at either venue contact Claire 327 0027.  More details about the type of photos that will be available soon.
Website
Well done to those teams who are making full use of their teams page.  There are some fantastic photos on pages and some great write ups about matches.  If you haven't already - have a bit of a surf through the grades.  Anyone keen to regularly update on behalf of their team should contact the team manager for how to do this.
Website tip #1: 7th - 10th grade teams can find their league table under the GRADE tab at the top.  Select your grade but don't select a particular team.  Your draws are there too.  The league standings on the team pages won't be entirely correct because they are intra league and don't include Amberley and Oxford.  So to keep up with how teams are going use the GRADE page.
Website tip #2: 7th grade and up teams who are recording their goalscorers can find these details under STATISTICS on their web page.  You can also see the top goalscorers for the particular grade by clicking on "Division Level Top"
Merchandise
New merchandise in the Waimak Online Store now.  Along with playing shorts and socks, we now have polo shirts, bags, caps, and beanies.  The Hoodies should be up this week too.  There have been some delays on shorts and socks recently as the supply for both us and Sportsworld has run out of stock.  Thank you for your patience, and a huge thanks to Nigel at Sportsworld North Canterbury for his help so far this year and sourcing more stock for us.  We are still working on some other items and we will keep you posted!  It is great to see players and teams walking around proudly wearing the new club logo.
Junior All Whites
These wee guys have again impressed me with their enthusiasm and some fantastic skills for players so young.  The 6th graders have their first exchange between Kaiapoi and Rangiora Zones this coming weekend.  Good luck with this new experience.
Juniors -  District League Competition
Grading continues for these teams.  In10th grade the Titans and Rebels are chasing the Amberley Amigos.  The Hawks, Razors, Rattlers and Roosters all remain unbeaten in 9th grade.  The Tigers and Raptors have also won three from three.  The 7th grade have  2 more weeks of grading before breaking into sections.
Juniors - Mainland Competition
Congratulations to the 16th grade girls on their promotion to the U19 girls begining this weekend, and on gaining a first up win against Avon 1-nil.  Many of these girls are only turning 14 and 15, but most are also gaining experience in the Senior Women's teams on Sundays.  We will look forward to their progress in their new grade.
There have been some huge scores in some grades which may result in other grade changes.  Such promotions are great for the development of our players, and the extra challenge will bode well for the future.  While trophies are nice, players development is key!
Both of our U19 boys squads and 17th Div 1 team remain unbeaten.  Other teams leading their leagues include the 15th Div 2, 14th Div 1, 14th Div 4, 12th Div 4, 12th Div 5, 12th grade Girls Black team, 11th Div 3, 11th Div 4, and the 10th Div 3 teams.  Fantastic!
Senior Men
Our Horton Signs Senior Men's team picked up their first win for the season this weekend with a solid 4-1 win over Parklands.  Points from the last 3 weeks brings them up to fifth on the table.
The Division 5 team had a good win over Burnham.  It was a rough weekend for the Masters and Presidents teams this weekend with only the United and Presidents B teams taking points.  The Masters United team still holds second.
Senior Women
The Senior Women's Division One team played last years champions Dux de Lux in the poor conditions on Sunday coming away with a 4 all draw, while the Division Three team lost their first game against Cashmere.

Go the mighty Waimak!
